RPG Cast – Episode 536: “When We Get Back to Work We’re Building a Box Fort”

Guest star Sam Watcher joins us, and that means this week’s podcast is officially explicit! Between the occasion cuss bomb, we discuss Animal Crossing and Chris’ poor decision making, Alex’s dive into Persona 5 Royal, and exactly why Kelley needs to finish FF7: Crisis Core in the near future. Anna Marie and Peter round out the ‘cast crew this week as we dive into the weekly headlines along with your feedback.

Question of the Week

If you’re quarantined what one game would you take with you?

  1. You guys almost convinced me to buy Animal Crossing (I’ve only ever played the GameCube one), but I went with Stardew Valley as my relaxing game instead.

QOTW: Probably the same game I’ve been playing for the past two years: Monster Hunter World.

  2. QotW: if quarantine is just two to three weeks, then I’m probably going to carry on playing the game I recently started: The Witcher III. With all the DLC included, I would probably not even be done by the time I come out the other side.

If we’re talking 28 Weeks Later, zombie apocalypse, doomsday-prepping quarantine, I guess I’d restart Breath of the Wild, and get all those Korok seeds while playing in master mode!

  3. QotW: This would be assuming I’d still have internet access and the servers were still up and running, but I’d want my quarantine game to be Final Fantasy XIV.

Besides still trying to get Red Mage to Lv 80 to do the last of the Shadowbringers Role Quests and leveling gathering classes so I can do the most recently added Beast Tribe, there’s still a metric ton of things in that game I still haven’t touched and would finally have time to try; Extreme Trials, Savage Raids, mount and minion farming, leveling the Shared FATEs, etc.

And let’s not forget the MMO staple… Gear grinding for those classes I already have at Lv 80 😅

    • Okay, I probably should’ve waited until the end of the show before looking up what the QOTW was and answering it. So, as I don’t see a delete comment button, I’d like to issue a retraction and alternative.

QOTW (proper): Borderlands 3. It just recently came to Steam, so I’m finally playing it and enjoying the 10 or so hours I’ve put into my FL4K solo campaign so far. Quarantine me and give me the time to complete the game as all four characters and grind for some good legendary drops, and I’ll be a happy camper.

(PS: No, I’m not an Epic Games Store hater. I just wanted BL3 on Steam because that’s the library where all my other BL games were.)

  4. I’ve basically been in self-isolation for the past three months anyway, and even with a few diversions the main thing I played was Fire Emblem: Three Houses. How else was I going to get all of Bylass’s supports?

  5. That developer you mentioned is Imageepoch, the company behind the Luminous Arc series, Arc Rise Fantasia, and Criminal Girls. It’s CEO, Ryoei Mikage, was the one who disappeared for a time. He’s actually resurfaced and founded a new company, Mikage LLC. They’re currently working on the latest in the Criminal Girls series.

Any for this week’s question: The latest Pokemon game, which in this case would be Shield. I’ll probably miss out on the upcoming DLC if I’m quarantined right now, but there’s always plenty of Pokemon to raise.

  6. QOTW: I’ll go off-brand and if I have to pick one game to go with me, I’ll take one of the Civilization games. Not sure that it matters which one it is, but those games have infinite replay value, perfect for being stuck with one game.
